Journey Distribution Explained: How to Set Your Content Mix for Every Business Stage
ForaPost's Journey Distribution is the lever that controls what kind of content your AI Manager creates. Here's how to set it for your business stage.

Journey Distribution Explained: How to Set Your Content Mix for Every Business Stage
Every social media post serves one of five purposes: making someone aware you exist, making them interested in what you do, helping them consider whether you're right for them, asking them to take action, or reinforcing the relationship after they've already become a customer. Most businesses don't think about this mix deliberately. They post whatever comes to mind — which usually means too much of one type and not enough of the others.
ForaPost's Journey Distribution gives you explicit control over this mix. It's the single most strategic setting in the platform, and it takes about two minutes to configure.
The Five Stages
Awareness content introduces your business to people who don't know you yet. Industry tips, community involvement, trending topics related to your vertical. This content rarely mentions your product or service directly — it earns attention by being useful or interesting.
Interest content gives people a reason to pay closer attention. Behind-the-scenes looks, your story, your process, what makes your approach different. This is where personality lives. A coffee shop's Interest content might be a video of their roaster explaining what makes their single-origin selection different.
Consideration content helps people evaluate whether you're the right fit. Specific service descriptions, case studies, client testimonials, pricing transparency, comparison content. This is the "how we work" and "what to expect" category.
Conversion content asks for the action. Book a consultation, visit this week, order online, sign up for a class. These posts should be direct without being aggressive — "We have three openings for new clients this month" is more effective than "ACT NOW."
Loyalty content strengthens relationships with existing customers. Behind-the-scenes exclusives, customer appreciation, first access to new offerings, community celebration. This is the content that reduces churn and drives referrals.
Distribution by Business Stage
A new business that nobody knows about yet should set Journey Distribution heavy on Awareness and Interest — perhaps 35% Awareness, 25% Interest, 20% Consideration, 15% Conversion, 5% Loyalty. You're building an audience before you can sell to it.
An established local business with steady foot traffic but flat growth might shift to 15% Awareness, 20% Interest, 30% Consideration, 20% Conversion, 15% Loyalty. You have an audience — now you need to convert the followers who haven't yet become customers.
A mature business focused on retention — a gym worried about churn, a salon with a full book trying to prevent client drift — should lean into Loyalty: 10% Awareness, 15% Interest, 15% Consideration, 15% Conversion, 45% Loyalty.
How to Adjust
Start with ForaPost's default distribution after your onboarding questionnaire. Run it for four to six weeks. Then look at what's working: are your educational posts earning saves and shares? Are your conversion posts actually driving bookings or messages? Adjust the percentages based on what the data tells you, not on gut feeling.
The most common mistake is setting Conversion too high. If 40% of your posts are asking people to buy something, your feed feels like a late-night infomercial. Audiences disengage. Drop Conversion to 15-20% and reallocate to Consideration content — which does the persuasion work without the hard sell.
Setting This Up in ForaPost
Navigate to your content settings and adjust the five Journey Distribution sliders. The percentages should add up to 100%. ForaPost's AI Manager uses these percentages to determine the intent behind each post it creates. When it pulls from your Catalog Maker records, the Journey Distribution determines whether a record becomes an educational post (Awareness), a detailed feature (Consideration), or a promotional push (Conversion).
Review your distribution quarterly. Your business stage changes. Your content mix should change with it.
